The weekend just gone, it was work during daylight hours and nothing at dawn or dusk to inspire from an ornithological perspective. The weekend before, the birds were predictable so I did not bother to write.
Today was quite good, starting at Arcot this morning, and as well as the hods of Teal and gulls, 2 Coots, 3 Goosanders (F), 4 Canada Geese, 10 Gadwall, 10 Wigeon, 8 Snipe and 2 Mute Swans. There are now two Dartmoor Ponies in the NE field.
Bassington NR was dead. The river at Plessey remains Dipper-less.
West Hartford this afternoon had Teal, gulls and 13 Oystercatcher, 3 Curlew and 12 adult LBBG. Nice!
The feeder at The Snowy Owl, alleged to attract Tree Sparrows, was busy, but Passer montanus was elusive. Gold, Green and Chaffinches, Great, Coal and Blue Tits, Woody, Jackdaw, Dunnock and Goldcrest tho'.
