Deja Vu

Remember the Mandarin tick?

Same again tonight, albeit the place was West Hartford's bigger Flash, and the drake was flanked by two Shelduck.

Nice bird for such a non-descript little place (and very under-rated)

I've Now Got Wood!

Crammy Birder's Wood Sandpiper was still at West Hartford this evening, initially on the smaller flash's west shore and then the larger flash's west shore (18:00 hrs)

I've Got BO!

I am not afraid that after 130 days of 2010, I have, this evening, 'ticked' Barn Owl!  Yippeeeee - that's all species of owl listed for the year.

Also at West Hartford was a Green Sandpiper, Redshank and the usual suspects.

Third Time Lucky!

Responded to the first addition to Birdguides' Northumberland page for over 56 hours with a diversion from an hour's sea watching to see the Wood Sandpiper.  No sign on arrival @ 18:45.  A Common Sandpiper was in the SW corner (here we go again, thinks I) but after a few good scans of the east shore - voila!

Spent an hour in Dipton Woods this afternoon looking for Pied Flycatchers (PF).  It was very quiet in terms of sights and sounds.  Green Woodpecker heard, Greater Spotted seen.  One Blue Tit nest and two Starlings' seen, aswell as a male Blackcap and all-too-brief glimpses of a solitary PF.
